MORE THAN 200 OPPORTUNITIES TO JOIN NEVADA’S GROWING OUTDOOR RECREATION INDUSTRY
– Lee Canyon announces its annual Winter Job Fair is Saturday, Nov. 13, from noon to 4 p.m. inside Hillside Lodge. The resort’s 45 job categories offer more than 200 employment opportunities, including full and part-time, both seasonal and year-round positions. Jobs are offered in categories like human resources, marketing, mountain operations, food and beverage, ski and snowboard school, retail, and more. Prospective employees should bring a resume and be prepared for an in-person interview. Casual attire is suggested, and facemasks are required. Lee Canyon offers a host of benefits for full and part-time employees. Employees receive special ski passes that provide access to 11 other POWDR resorts, Lee Canyon’s sister properties, and one family or dependent pass for a spouse, life partner, or child. Other benefits include travel time, where employees are paid for an extra hour per shift to cover travel to the mountain. There are also growth and promotion opportunities and certification training. For example, ski and snowboard instructors can go through the Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) certifications, which result in a bump in pay scale.

We offer extensive training, so people who lack experience but want to work in the outdoor industry can get started on their career path,” says Jim Seely, Lee Canyon’s director of marketing. “And we encourage our team to grow with Lee Canyon.”
Seely is an excellent example of the resort’s desire to promote from within the organization. He started his career at Lee Canyon more than a decade ago as a snowboard instructor while earning a degree at UNLV. After landing an assistant position in the marketing department, he moved through the ranks to the director level.
“As Nevada diversifies its economy, outdoor recreation will become an even bigger industry in Southern Nevada,” says Seely. “Apart from government agencies, locally, Lee Canyon is one of the largest employers in this space. As we grow, our team members can benefit from the chance to try different career avenues in the local outdoor recreation industry.”
